"This
letter
is
to
share
my
warm
thoughts,
gratitude
and
thankfulness
I'll
always
have
for
Bark
Avenue
and
its
employees
in
Downtown
Los
Angeles.
On
Monday,
January
14th,
2013.
My
friend
Anais
called
me.
She
was
new
to
Downtown
Los
Angeles,
she
was
in
tears
and
I
could
not
understand
clearly
what
she
was
telling
me.
But
what
I
did
hear
is
that
'Mini"
her
Chihuahua
was
ran
over
by a
bus
on
Broadway
Street.
I
could
not
help
her
because
I
happen
to
be
in
West
Los
Angeles.
So,
I
pulled
out
my
downtown
contacts
and
called
Bark
Avenue
to
see
if
they
could
help
her.
When
Anais
arrived
at
Bark
Avenue
the
staff,
Liza/Xe
/Michelle
and
the
Manager,
Steve
Areia
were
waiting
for
her.
"Mini"
was
barely
breathing
so
Michelle
immediately
drove
Anais
and
"Mini"
to
Echo
Park
Animal
Hospital.
Steve
Areia,
Manager
gave
Anais
$40.00
for
a
taxi
cab
ride
for
her
return
trip
from
the
hospital
to
Downtown
Los
Angeles.
Michelle
instead
waited
for
Anais
and
gave
her
a
ride
back
to
DTLA
herself.
I am
truly
humbled,
grateful
and
with
open
arms
in
true
honesty...."Thank
You"
the
team
at
Bark
Avenue!
You
are
truly
a
community
business
and
through
your
actions,
you
showed
that
you
truly
care
about
our
community
members
and
about
our
pets.
You
have
gone
out
of
your
normal
business
practice
to
help
a
member
of
the
community.
That
is
way
cool
and
although
'Mini"
is
not
with
us
anymore
you
truly
made
a
bad
situation
into
a
tolerable
one
for
Anais
as
she
said
good
bye
to
"Mini",
who
she
loved
very
much
and
shared
her
life
with
for
6
years.
Again,
thank
you
and
may
your
business
continue
to
thrive
and
succeed.
Our
pets
are
depending
on
it!
Truly
Yours,

Bark

Staff!

I
just
wanted
to
send
all
of
you
a
HUGE
THANK
YOU!
About
a
month
and
a
half
ago
I
woke
up
and
grabbed
my
Yorkie,
Winston,
and
walked
across
the
street
to
the
dog
park
conveniently
located
in
front
of
my
building.
It
was
a
normal
morning...
I
had
no
make
up...
not
a
single
hair
had
been
brushed...
and
I
was
still
wearing
the
clothing
that
I
had
slept
in.
As
we
made
our
way
back
to
my
building
I
spotted
a
gorgeous
little
white
(but
very
dirty)
dog
just
standing
on
the
sidewalk
without
an
owner
in
sight.
As a
pedestrian
headed
toward
him
he
fearfully
ran
into
the
street,
with
gasps
coming
from
everyone
who
saw.
Fortunately
he
was
not
hit
by
oncoming
traffic
and
he
quickly
jumped
back
to
the
sidewalk
and
headed
down
another
street.
Normally
I
would
have
said
a
quick
prayer
for
the
dog
and
been
on
my
way,
but
this
one
was
different.
Winston
and
I
followed
him
down
the
street
and
watched
as
others
tried
to
help
him.
I
decided
to
get
Winston
on
the
case
and
we
successfully
lured
him
over
to
us,
where
I
then
grabbed
him.
Not
knowing
what
to
do
with
him
or
where
to
take
him,
I
decided
to
get
some
help
from
my
neighborhood
doggie
gurus...
Bark
Ave!
I
walked
in
with
this
mangy,
scabby
and
dirty
dog
and
you
guys
gave
me a
hot
tip
on
where
to
take
him.
But
on
top
of
that
(I'm
sorry
I
don't
know
his
name)
a
tall
man
who
was
working
with
other
dogs
(I
think
he
has
dreads?)
planted
a
thought
in
my
head,
to
possibly
hold
onto
him
and
see
him
through
the
restoration
process
and
suggested
that
if I
were
to
keep
him
I
could
come
back
and
get
a
free
wash!
I
left
with
information
and
an
idea...
oh...
and
you
also
provided
me
with
a
leash,
because
my
arms
were
dead
after
carrying
him!

while
I
was
a

Although
I

to
their

I
have
only
positive
things
to
say
about
the

The
animals
were
very
well
taken

and
all

Jay,
I
wish
to
thank
you
and
your
wonderful
staff
for
all
of
the
love
and
care
you
gave
to
my
Hazel
over
the
last
couple
of
years.
Hazel
had
a
bad
fall
and
the
resulting
damage,
combined
with
her
congenitally
deficient
hips
was
severe
enough
that
the
doctor
felt
it
was
unlikely
that
she
would
be
able
to
recover
without
extensive
and
painful
surgery
and
rehabilitation.
So,
sadly,
we
had
to
put
my
baby
down.
It
has
take
me a
while
to
write
this,
because
I
know
how
much
Steve,
Christina
and
all
of
the
staff
loved
Hazel.
I
could
never
have
found
another
place
where
her
needs
were
met
so
completely.
I am
sure
I
will
get
another
pet
in
time
and
when
I
do,
you
can
be
sure
I
will
bring
him/her
for
playcare
and
to
take
advantage
of
the
other
services
you
have
to
offer.
Maybe
I
will
even
get
another
one
from
Dawn's
Fur
Babies
-
who
knows?
At
this
point,
I am
still
dealing
with
the
loss
of
my
big
Blonde
Sweetheart.
In
time,
I'm
sure.
Love
to
all.

What
an
amazing
experience!
I
was
so
nervous
leaving
my
dog-aggressive
shelter
pup,
but
the
staff
assured
me
they
would
work
with
her.
We
could
not
even
walk
her
on a
leash
across
the
street
from
another
dog
without
her
lunging
and
growling.
After
an
anxiety-filled
five
days
out
of
town,
we
headed
straight
for
Bark
Ave's
boarding
facility
straight
from
the
airport.
Imagine
my
surprise
when
the
staff
told
me
"oh,
she's
at
Daycare
at
the
other
facility."
MY
dog?
Around
other
dogs?
Unbelievable!
We
sped
over
to
Daycare
where
we
found
our
pup
happily
playing
with
several
other
dogs.
We
were
stunned!
It
was
absolutely
the
best
feeling
in
the
world
to
know
that
we
could
take
her
home
and
she
could
successfully
meet
and
play
with
other
dogs
now,
thanks
to
the
Bark
Ave.
staff.
We've
even
taken
her
to
the
dog
park
(unthinkable
before)
and
she
just
does
beautifully.
An
absolutely
top-rate
organization.
Thanks
again
so
very
much.

Cho
was
handsome
before

but
WOW
he
is

I

Christina
is
wonderful
she
endured
three
phone
calls
from
me
that
ranged
from
providing
me
with
an
appointment
to
directions
to
the
facility.
It
was
a
horrible
traffic
day
in
L.A.
(what
else
is
new)
and
they
were
very
understanding
because
I
arrived
late
and
picked
him
up
late.
I
was
comfortable
when
I
walked
in
the

that
I
was
not
the

bit
apprehensive
about
leaving
Cho.
The
spirit
of

Bark
Avenue
came
through
for
me
in
the
nick
of
time,
and
I am
forever
grateful.
About
a
year
ago,
I
rescued
a 6
month
old
pitbull
mix
puppy
off
the
streets.
I
had
to
find
him
a
home,
but
the
problem
was
where
to
keep
him.
I
already
had
3
dogs
at
home,
and
one
of
them
is
very
territorial.
So
we
decided
to
put
the
dog,
Sunny,
into
boarding
at a
dog
rescue.
After
2
weeks,
I
came
and
visited
him
and
he
had
gone
downhill
dirty,
thinner,
and
starting
to
show
signs
of
going
kennel
crazy.
As a
last
resort,
I
emailed
an
animal
rescue
contact
and
she
was
able
to
get
me
room
at
Bark
Avenue
at
the
discount
rate
for
animal
rescue
groups.
Thank
you,
Bark!
While
Sunny
was
at
Bark
Avenue,
I
would
get
emails
from
the
staff,
telling
me
how
he
was
doing
and
even
sent
me
pictures!!!
They
have
a
nice
dog
run
and
the
kennels
are
constantly
kept
clean.
There's
also
a
small
retail
store
where
you
can
buy
doggie
clothes,
treats,
leashes,
collars,
etc.
When
I
came
to
pick
him
up
to
take
to
his
new
owner,
he
was
a
much
happier
dog
with
no
signs
of
kennel
craziness
at
all.
Overall,
this
is a
great
place
to
board
your
dog.

In
addition
to
the
daycare
services,
Bark
Avenue
also
has
an
animal
rescue
center
where
they
foster
about
70
dogs.
Cue
the
violins....
Two
weeks
ago
I
fell
head

heals
for
a
pointer/
bull
terrier
named
Sugar,
and
last
week
my
husband
I
went
to
Bark
Ave
to
see
Sugar
and
her
foster
sister
Cinnamon.
They
are
both
around
5
months
and
were
found
downtown
around
the
same
time.
They
were
both
so
much
fun
to
be
around
and
both
were
absolutely
adorable.
To
make
a
long
story
short,
the
two
puppies
weren't
a
good
fit
for
our
family,
but
Sugar
and
Cinnamon
deserve
some
good
homes,
so
if
you
are
thinking
about
rescuing
or
adopting,
go
to
Bark

FYI,
their
website
announced
that
they
are
starting
mobile
pet
adoptions
at
Kiel's
in
Santa

on
the

Sunday
of

These

This
review
is
for
the
downtown
location.
I
took
my
dog
here
to
be
groomed,
and
I
can't
say
enough
about
the
place.
I
live
nearby,
so I
was
just
using
this
facility
for
its
convenience.
I
own
a
Shih
Tzu,
a
breed
that
requires
a
great
deal
of
upkeep.
I
asked
for
a
teddy
bear
cut,
and
over
the
years,
I've
seen
a
lot
of
variations.
This
was
by
far
the
nicest
cut
I've
ever
seen.
The
groomer
at
Bark
Avenue
really
handled
my
grumpy
old
dog
well
Niles
has
been
known
to
bite,
but
the
groomer
was
very
calm
and
gentle
with
him.
He
spent
a
lot
of
time
plucking
and
cleaning
my
dog's
ears
and
even
advised
me
of a
developing
ear
infection.
I
didn't
leave
my
dog
there
for
very
long,
but
when
I
came
to
pick
him
up,
he
was
romping
around
with
the
other
small
dogs
in
the
facility,
having
a
blast.
As a
result
of
this
excellent
experience,
I'm
a
repeat
customer.

Today
I
felt
like
a
good
dog-mom.
We
dropped
our
dog
off
at
Bark
Avenue
feeling
a
little
like
parents
dropping
their
kid
off
on
the
first
day
of
school.
"What
if
the
other
kids
don't
like
her?
Will
her
teachers
be
nice?
What
if
she
gets
in a
fight
with
another
kid?"
Staffmember
Tina
greeted
us
with
calming
reassurance
and
said
we
could
call
anytime
and
check
on
our
dog...even
view
her
on a
web
cam-which
unfortunately
didn't
work
on
the
iPhone.
Naturally
I
called
about
an
hour
later,
and
our
dog
was
"doing
great"!
Which
set
my
mind
at
ease.
At
the
end
of
the
day,
I
called
again,
and
was
told
by
Sharron
(another
outstanding
staffmember),
"she
has
been
playing
all
day,
is
doing
great
and
should
fall
right
to
sleep
when
you
get
her
home".
I
have
to
admit
I
was
skeptical
about
that
last
part...she
has
endless
energy
and
chatters
constantly
in
the
car...usually...
We
picked
her
up
and
put
her
in
the
car,
and
not
only
did
she
not
chatter
and
complain
the
whole
time,
but
she
actually
laid
down
and
was
quiet
almost
the
whole
way
home!
Right
now
she
is
tucked
into
my
leg
snoring
away,
I am
sure
dreaming
about
her
great
day
at
Bark
Avenue.
We
will
be
boarding
her
there
soon,
so I
have
reserved
five
star
status
until
then,
but
I
have
confidence
that
I
will
be
adding
that
last
star
shortly.
Kudos
for
community-building

I've
been
an
avid
patron
of
the
Bark
Avenue
on
Hill
St.
for
about
3
years
now.
My
dog
Dixie
goes
to
"camp"
here
when
there
aren't
any
other
options
(e.g.
no
one
else
to
dog-sit).
Prices
are
comparable
to
other
kennels
and
I've
always
observed
it
to
be
relatively
clean
(at
least
as
clean
as
it
can
be
with
~20
dogs
running
around)
and
the
staff
is
attentive
and
caring.
They
often
host
fun
neighborhood
events
for
pets
and
their
owners
(I
went
to a
halloween
party
a
few
years
back)
so
extra
kudos
for
community-building
events.
With
their
new
location
on
Main
St.,
I'll
be
sure
to
stop
by
more
often!

As
good
as
it
gets
-
Bark
Avenue
rocks
on
every
level.
Great
phone
service
with
making
appointments,
etc.
Excellent
grooming
- my
old
timer
11
year
old
mini
dachshund
comes
home
looking
like
a
shiny
puppy.
They
are
very
caring
-
some
groomers
are
too
aggressive
with
Cujo's
old
teeth
and
gums
and
he
has
had
infections
after
visits
with
other
groomers
...
not
here!
And
a
big
WooHoo
for
the
pick-up/delivery
service
-
the
guy
is
always
on
time
and
loves
the
dogs.
Excellent
Excellent
Excellent.
Stop
shopping
for
a
new
groomer
now
and
get
to
Bark
Avenue!
Really
nice
place...

WOW!!!
This
place
is
HUGE.
Their
business
card
says
on
one
side
"Everything
under
one
Woof"
Awwww
How
cute
is
that?
My
daughter
has
a 5
1/2
month
toy
poodle
so
this
place
is
somewhere
I
would
definately
want
to
take
her
2
once
she
gets
a
bit
older.
I
walked
inside
and
asked
the
lady
working
there
at
the
desk....if
I
could
have
a
business
card
she
said
SURE
They
have
Dog
and
Cat
services
Daycare,
Boarding,
Grooming,
Training,
Doggie
Gym,
Art
and
Photo
Gallery
Lots
of
seperate
rooms
are
contained
within...I
was
seriously
impressed
by
what
I
seen.
I
was
watching
a
gentleman
clip
a
dogs
hair
thru
the
window....and
he
was
doing
a
SERIOUS
Edward
Scissorshands
type
of
movement
with
his
shears
around
the
eyes
and
nose
of a
large
fluffy
dog....
he
was
doing
a
good
job
8))).
Their
were
4
cages
behind
him
too...all
with
a
dog
in
it.
Waiting
for
their
weekend
cuts...LOL
Really
nice
place

Okay,
this
place
kicks
butt.
Everyone
has
a
positive
attitude,
is
helpful
and
most
importantly
loves
animals.
I
thought
it
was
so
cute
because
frequent
"Play
Care"
doggy
parents
pull
up
and
a
Bark
Ave.
Staff
brings
the
dog
directly
to
their
parent's
car,
almost
like
it
was
a
elementary
school
parent
pickup.
I
took
my
second
rescue,
a
VERY
SASSY
long
haired
Persian
Cat
back
to
Bark
Ave.
to
get
shaved
and
styled
by
Tyrone.
She
came
home
happy
and
relaxed.
Both
cats
look
beautiful,
felt
pampered
and
I
would
highly
recommend
any
long
haired
cat
parent
to
take
their
cats
here.
Make
sure
you
sign
up
for
their
discounts
by
email.
Sometimes
they
offer
20 %
off
grooming,
or
free
play
care.
It
is
well
worth
it.
They
even
hooked
me
up
with
a
free
Natural
Balance
food.
Believe
it
or
not,
one
of
my
other
rescue
cats
is
allergic
to
grain
and
this
is
the
only
wet
and
dry
food
they
eat.
How
sweet.
Thanks
Tyrone,
Shannon,
Jay
and
crew.
I
wish
you
future
success.
Thank
you

Avenue...

I
set
an
appointment
with
my
dog
groomer
Monday
, I
was
told
that
she
would
be
there
on
Saturday
, I
called
Friday
night
to
make
sure
my
appointment
was
scheduled,
I
ask
for
my
groomer
bye
name
BOY
was
I
shocked
I
was
told
she
quit
last
month,
I
informed
the
store
keeper
that
one
of
her
employee
informed
me
that
she
would
be
there
Saturday
to
groom
my
dog.
I
asked
a
couple
of
Friends
to
recommend
a
decent
dog
groomer
"BARK
AVENUE"
in
LA.
took
a
chance
drove
Friday
night,
they
where
closing
a
female
employee
took
pity
on
my
flight,
and
said
yes
we
can
groom
your
Cocker
on
Saturday,
I
was
so
happy
finally
some
good
news,
Saturday
came,
There
groomer
did
a
fabulous
job,
thank
you

My
dogs
are
so
happy
every
time
they
get
near
Bark
Avenue!
They
have
so
much
fun
there,
and
they
get
all
the
attention
and
play
time
and
love
I
could
ask
for.
Bark
Avenue
is
clean,
the
staff
is
friendly
and
accommodating,
and
I
just
love
this
place!
I've
even
groomed
my
dogs
there
a
few
times
and
they
come
back
smelling
so
nice
and
looking
so
styled.
This
is a
high-end,
state
of
the
art
pet
facility
and
I
highly
recommend
it
to
anyone
who
wants
their
pup
to
have
the
very
best!
Can't
say
enough
great
things.

Can't
say
enough
great
things
about
this
place.
I
have
taken
my
pups
to
quite
a
few
places,
but
nowhere
had
the
kind
of
love
for
animals
as
Bark
Ave.
They
know
my
bulldog
Duke
by
name,
and
everyone
fawns
over
him
every
time
we
come
in.
Also,
their
drop
off/pick
up
service
is a
lifesaver.

These
guys
are
amazing.
I
adopted
Rusty
from
Bark
Avenue
Foundation
and
have
been
a
fan
ever
since!
I
now
use
Bark
Ave
for
boarding
services
when
I'm
out
of
town
because
I
know
that
Rusty
is
in
good
hands.They
are
truly
dedicated
to
the
community
and
have
a
real
passion
for
animals.
Whenever
I
have
a
questions
about
my
pet
they
always
have
an
answer
and
are
willing
to
help.
I
also
love
the
fact
that
they
participate
in
the
art
walk
activities. |
